Used last year, can't see on website now whether or not Max Cards are still accepted.

I was able to use the Max Card as proof I was a carer and as such, my entrance was free. They also offered advice as to where quieter areas were etc. Staff friendly and helpful.

My son did still get overwhelmed, but we were able to find plenty of quieter areas, such as near the canons, where he could calm down.

Went to the Bronte Parsonage in Howarth today, got in free with our Max Card.

My son is autistic & he was able to sit down in a chair in most of the rooms, after looking at what he was interested in.

He enjoyed trying on the hats in the costume area. It's a lovely place to go, Howarth is very pretty but also hilly with cobbled street so probably not great for wheelchairs.

You can park right near the Parsonage, parking is only £1.50 an hour.

Lovely day out, castle staff seemed very aware of SEND and sunflower lanyard.
Play area was fantastic.

Disabled toilet in courtyard small and would be difficult to transfer, much better at the boat house.

We went at Christmas (for their special Alice in Wonderland' Christmas display.
I provided some feedback at the time on the Lincs carers forum FB page as I didn't realise this existed.

The Max Card made it brilliant value for money.

We went after Xmas so crowds were gone and our two autistic/adhd children weren't overstimulated and had time to process everything in their own way. It was a great day out and actually made our Christmas

Very steep site, unsuitable for buggies and wheelchairs.
Not too busy even in school holidays, quieter areas around the animals.

Lots of animal talks, sea lion show was good but very busy.
Limited toilets, disabled needed to ask for access.

Nice soft play with lots of interest in it, useful for sensory seeking, not too busy around 3pm.

Animal enclosures very good and good viewing of animals, just a shame about the steepness of the site, hard on little legs!

We spent a few days in Margate this summer.
Our ASD Daughter (age 14) loves fair rides. She has additional learning difficulties and needs adult support.

We chose a less busy time to visit Dreamland and showed the Max card. One career / adult could go free on any ride she needed support with.
We never needed to use the toilets on this occasion however they did have one disabled that I noticed.

The staff were friendly but not overly knowledgeable and because she looks older we find ourselves having to explain the need for adult support much more then when she was younger.

At Elsham Hall using the Max card we get a child free with a full paying adult.
Lovely place, lots of space, no big crowds. There are toilets in a few locations.
Staff are very friendly.

We don't stay very long, just have a walk round and play in the park, feed the fish, so only having to pay for the adults is great otherwise it would be a bit too expensive for us.

I would definitely recommend to other parents.

My Mum and I visited Eureka Childrens Museum in Halifax with my daughter who has autism.

It was a SEND only day we attended which Eureka hold on a regular basis. Their website shows their inclusivity for SEND which is refreshing to see.

It was a lovely day and we were able to use the MAX card to get free admission for myself and my daughter.
We also received a free annual pass to use within the next year!

Accessible have visited in term time and school holidays.

Term time was much quieter although quite noisy overall it is split into sections so could choose to go to a less busy part. Free entry with the max card.

The venue accepted it through online booking.
Toilets accessible.
Eating area inside and out to eat own food and also a cafe.

Very hands on sensory experiences that suited my children and staff very understanding would recommend.

Visited during Easter holidays, lovely staff, asked about max card discount although not currently on scheme gave me 2 free carer tickets with a disabled adult and disabled child ticket. Have also spoken with manager who is going to look at max scheme.

Had a lovely time, wheelchair friendly and beautiful big changing rooms facilities with key available if you don't have your own handy.

Staff were more than happy to chat with my son and answer his 1000 questions about sharks and spoke to him about each individual fish he pointed to.

Stamp on hand and able to come and go from the venue all day - we went for lunch and returned to see the sharks again

We booked a Haven holiday via max card and it was amazing! The discount made it possible and I was so impressed with the site.

All thanks to Max Card, my son was able to have an amazing experience in North Wales, he got to see things he’d never be able to see otherwise.

Upon showing the Max card a carer gets in free. This was a saving of £28.50. It is cheaper to book online.

Parking can get very busy and there is a walk to get the the cable cars. There is disabled parking. Due to the nature of the attraction , there are steep areas.

Even though it was busy, we were able to skip the queue because our autistic children find queuing overwhelming. Also, whilst the cable cars seat 6, again, even though it was busy, we were allowed a car to ourselves.

We were given an additional Accessibility Map, which covers sections for Autism and learning disabilities, blind and deaf visitors, and wheelchair users. This map indicates quieter areas, accessible paths, where all disabled toilets are etc.

Staff are extremely friendly, inclusive and autism aware. We had a lovely day and would definitely recommend to SEND families, being mindful that it does get busy.

Yorvik Viking Centre, York

Free entry for two adults and two children (very impressed).

When they knew we had a Max card they took us to the front of the queue so we didn't have to queue, which was great for my SEN son.

The staff were really accommodating and supportive. It was a great day out and we also accessed the York dig which you need to book.

It was an excellent day.

We visited Jorkvick on a number of occasions.

I visited York and several places accepted the Max card, Jorvic, York Mister, they were amazingly supportive and accommodating allowing us to turn up and queue and making all reasonable adjustments.

It wasn't an issue and made the day fully accessible

When I presented the Max card, the staff member asked if there was anything we needed to make our visit easier, but we had everything we needed.

We booked for 10:45 but weren't sure we'd make it, so were able to switch to a later time via their website.

We were offered a sensory bag with headphones and a traffic light system with red, amber and green based on whether my son wanted to interact with staff. We were also asked if he was ok to queue.

We have used our Max Card in York at Jorvik Centre, York Minster, York DIG, and Barley Hall, and each visit has been a really positive experience.

The card gave us easy access with no waiting times, which made outings much smoother and calmer, financially it was a huge help as my son with ADHD loves history and we were able to visit more places without worrying about the cost.

All of the venues were SEND accessible and the staff were fantastic, friendly, knowledgeable, and supportive.

At Jorvik, we were even given a sensory bag, which really helped my son stay calm and focused during the demonstration before the ride.

My son really wanted to visit the famous Ghost Shop in York, but there was constantly a long queue, and despite trying, it just wasn’t possible for him to manage the wait. We decided to ring the shop and explain that my son has a disability and struggles with queuing, and that we also have a Max Card. The staff were incredibly understanding and kindly booked us a slot so we could walk straight in, with only our family in the shop at that time. This made the experience so much easier and more enjoyable, and my son was absolutely delighted to be able to look around calmly and even purchase a ghost to take home.

Overall, the Max Card has made family days out more enjoyable, affordable, and inclusive, and I would highly recommend it to other parent carers.

The venue was easy to book, however we did this over the phone so to be sure that the MAX card was discount was verified.

The facilities were clean, with everything signposted.
There were plenty of quieter areas to access if needed and we were able to access a ride as a priority, thanks to the card when we spoke to a staff member.

Easy to book, Max card was accepted with no issues.

Legoland was great for SEND, the sensory rooms are lovely and really helped regulate when needed.

We had great interactions with staff who were great at communication with our autistic child.

Has quieter green areas to sit on and lots of fairy lights are used throughout. Are characters in fancy dress (which upset my children) but staff are extremely knowledgeable and would understand rapidly if a child was unsure and give them space.

This is such a wonderful experience.
Its really engaging and more accessible than most places we have been.

It's hands on so my VI son was able to access and understand the resources. Despite it being the summer school holidays it did not feel crowded.

Myself, 20yr and 15yr daughters both autistic went to National train museum over Easter.
This was free.
The Wonderlab: The Bramall Gallery we used the max card. Myself and younger daughter were free, eldest daughter paid £7.20. Brilliant area, toilets clean, all accessible activities, well thought out. Definitely worth a visit.

Wonderlab inside the Yorkshire Railway Museum was a fabulous activity for the whole family.
Various science based concepts that the kids thoroughly enjoyed, including what I can only call a life sized marble run.
There were live science experiments being carried out regularly and various timed shows.
The max card gave us 50% entry so we paid £18 for the 4 of us. Great value for money activity.

My partner took my son to a trampoline Park in Nottingham last year whilst I took my daughter to her cheerleading competition

We used our Max card, summer 2025 at pleasure beach which got my daughter an unlimited wristband at approx 1/3 off the usual price, costing around £19 in the end.

She did not need the toilet whilst we were there so I can't talk about the facilities.
But the staff knew what a MaX Card was and applied the discount no questions asked.

We had a lovely afternoon. The unlimited wristband avoided meltdowns and confusion.
She made a friend also on the spectrum whilst there and the inclusivity made a huge difference.

The discount enabled me as a carer to afford her a good day out as I've not been in paid employment since my daughters struggles.

We visited here on holiday and I didnt have any evidence such as DLA letter but they accepted my Max card as proof of disability and we got a carers discount and child's discount for my deaf son.

We all had great day, going on all the rides.

Miniature Railway, 45 minutes to an hour journey time. Can sit indoors, outdoors, or outdoors with a roof. Seats are bookable, to avoid stress of finding somewhere to sit. Trigger warning of sulphur smells with steam trains!

Carer went free. Cafes at each end station, parks at each end station, disabled toilets. Have to book train times on purchasing ticket, but staff extremely friendly and will help accommodate where possible.

A small museum housed in the old police station/prison building in Ripon. There is a Police Box (TARDIS) at the entrance which was a bonus.
Staff were very welcoming and 1 adult and 1 child were admitted for free on production of the Max Card.

There was a discovery trail for children and we could explore all the old prison cells. My son loved trying on the real uniforms and he found the exhibits very engaging.
It is a historic building and so naturally a little cramped and there is a first floor accessed via a stone staircase.
However, a modern lift has recently been installed to improve accessibility.

There is a small gift shop at the entrance with a nice range of reasonably-priced souvenirs.
We spent about 90 mins exploring the museum and combined it with a visit to the nearby Ripon Minster (free admission) which also had a fun children's discovery trail.

Lightwater Valley theme park (carers admitted free) is a short drive away.

There is a lovely park, with a variety of equipment, which is suitable for up to 12 years. The toilets are at the other end of the airplane hangers though.

There are quieter seating areas in the park, in the hangers and in the gardens. There are grass verges where you can sit and watch planes take off.

The cafe can get busy, but unless there is a special event on there is a larger room, still with seating but more room for children to move around. The hangers themselves are spacious and the museum offers free trails.

The sculpture gardens are beautiful, with paths suitable for pushchairs/wheelchairs. There are ponds and a lake to watch out for.

Lovely, small museum. Like walking through the stories. Gentle scenes, but lights do change to show day/night. Can get crowded, especially on a rainy day. Have options on tickets, to include live show or not, which was beneficial to our family, as they would not tolerate the show.

Are disabled toilets, but all toilets have three in one sinks, where you are given soap, set time of water and hand drier. Can't avoid this even in the disabled toilets.

Distressed my sensory child who can't tolerate hand driers and upset my OCD child as they could not wash their hands for the amount of time they wanted to.

Today my family and I visited the Think Tank. It was a last minute decision as we were at Cadbury World and knowing it would not fill our day, decided to try and find something else to tag on our day. With the our oldest not being overly interested in going, we didn't think it would fill anymore than an hour.

However, we were pleasantly surprised and actually spent almost three hours there. The outdoor area was brilliantly interactive and the museum was pretty good too.
There was also a fabulous and large role play area for younger children, with different zones, including a salon, builders area, doctors and shops.

Both the girls thoroughly enjoyed it and to top it all off the all 4 of us all got in for free. We did pay extra for the planetarium (£16) and let them both have something from the gift shop; another highlight for my youngest when she saw that they stocked Jellycats!!

All in all a great day out and the staff there were great too.

It was about a 2 hour drive from Lincoln to the Think Tank Science museum in Birmingham, but it was worth the visit.
There is parking at a multi storey and then a couple of minutes walk from there. We (2 adults, 1 child) got in free with the Max card and everyone was very helpful.

We spent 3 hours there, but they recommend up to 5 hours to see everything. We saw people there in wheelchairs and it all looked to be accessible with spaces to get through and lifts to each floor. There were toilets on each level too, I believe, including disabled toilets.

My son is autistic and he didn't like Level 2, so we didn't spend long on that floor. The ground floor (Level 0) is great for learning about the Industrial Revolution, James Watt and inventions and there are many old vehicles to see.

There's also a cafe on this level (about £12 for sandwiches, a latte, Coke and crisps) and one in the Mini Brum area (Level 3). Level 1 is all about making things - out of glass, wood, etching, etc. Level 3 is the place for little ones to go - Mini Brum is fab with play areas for doctors, beauty, building, canal boat, etc. Even though my son was older than the suggested age, he enjoyed it and no one minded him being the oldest child there at 13.

There are things to get stamped in Level 0 and my son enjoyed collecting them. We all had fun in those big card things you photograph where you put your faces through. There are so many fun interactive things, you'll find something to do for any age.

The outside science garden is fabulous, we spent about an hour there. You may get wet with the water play! Another tip, we arrived midday Sunday and were straight in, but when we cam out at 3pm, there was a long queue. There's a very big gift shop too, but it does include some cheaper souvenirs. My son got a small cuddly monkey for £7.

We (two adults and two children) visited 'Thinktank Science Museum' in Birmingham. We pre-booked online selecting the Max card option and presented the physical card and booking email when we arrived.

The venue has a great social story on their website, which we viewed before we went - this is always helpful for my children, who can feel anxious in new places. There is a quiet room available upon request (something we didn't use but was good to know of).

There's a useful map on their website, if you want to prioritise which part to visit first. It was not busy the day we went, possibly due to Lincoln and Birmingham having different October half term dates.

My children enjoyed the venue a lot, especially the outdoor science garden which is very hands-on and lots of fun. This venue was clean, accessible and had friendly staff.

The money we saved alleviated our concern, that we might pay a lot of money to visit and end up leaving abruptly should either of our children experience distress or overwhelm from the environment, noise, crowds etc.
A great place for fans of STEM and a positive experience in every way.

Two adults and two children, got free entry to York Castle Museum.

The staff upon entry asked if we had any requirements and provided info as to where we could access ramps instead of stairs where appropriate.

It was a great place to visit and so much to see, that we only properly did half on our first visit, as our children can't manage more than a couple of hours.

We definitely intend to go back. It was very visual, there was some dressing up,
there was role play with staff in the courtyard - it was a very enjoyable.
There are lots of venues in York that accept Max Cards, so it is an ideal place to visit.

Took myself, my daughters 20yr and 15yr both autistic. Over Easter, used max card, so free entry for all 3 of us.

The garden is lovely to walk around but on a slope, lots of benches around to sit on outside. Inside there are quiet areas, lots of areas with activities spread over a couple of floors to join in with.

Staff around, relaxed atmosphere, calm areas to sit in younger children's quiet area with books. Calm museum to visit.

Great time had for approx 90mins/two hours. Two sections, the Victoria streets and 60s/York prison.
My two daughters really enjoyed the Victorian area, where there were various shops to view from the outside and some enter.

We were given free admission and the venue was fairly quite anyway so we didn't have to ask about quite areas.

We got free entry for a family of 4 to York Minster using our Max card saving £36.
This meant we could visit a venue that we weren't sure our sons would cope with and not have to worry about the cost.

The staff knew about Max card and happily passed us through without any problem.
We did have to queue outside, but we didn't need to ask for support with that on this visit, so chose not to.
There is ramp access.
The toilets are a long walk from the entry door.

The only issue we did have was a staff member asking what disability our assistance dog supports whilst we were stood in the queue with a number of other visitors within earshot.

I emailed to complain and they have since assured me all front of house staff will have updated training and their disability policy will be updated accordingly.

Spent a few days in York over Easter. Max card accepted easily and quickly at York Minster.

All three of us got in for free.

Very easy to use, staff available around the building, plenty of areas to sit in quiet (check service times). Very interesting in the lower part of the Minster.

The discount was great, free admission for the whole family. This means no stress about whether you might have to leave for any reason, and easy to re-enter. We just showed the card at the desk and could walk in. There isn't any information on York Minster's website about Max cards, which made us a little nervous, but we had no issues.
There are guided tours but these are optional, we chose to wander at our own pace. There is also an optional charge to climb the tower, again we didn't try this.

There are toilets, but no food or drink available.
Some parts are wide open and easily accessible, there are other parts like the crypt that are down stairs and more crowded, but there is accessibility information on the website to look at beforehand.

The Minster is beautiful to look at, in the undercroft there is also some information on renovations and the previous remains it was built on.
