The core role of the Forum is to gather parents experiences and view of the services they and
their children receive. Both GOOD and NOT SO GOOD !
Feedback is anonymised, compiled and distributed to Members, Public, LCC, NHS, DFE, Schools, SENCos, Service
providers, Professionals, and Voluntary Organisations via our Quarterly "Parents Voice" reports and
other reports and documents throughout the year. See our Library
N.B. we also feedback to parents from Services about what alters as a result of parental
feedback, although services cannot always solve everyone's problems or change as quickly as people would like.
The most important individuals in the process is YOU - PARENTS as we can only feedback what
YOU say to us.
We gather feedback via a range of methods as detailed below;
REMEMBER - IF YOU TELL FRIENDS AND
FAMILY ETC, NOTHING MAY HAPPEN -
TELL US AS WE HAVE LINKS TO THE ORGANISATIONS WHO CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. GET YOUR VIEWS AND EXPERIENCES HEARD
Our very own
"Your Say"
Every experience and view you have about the services you receive is valuable to us.
Change will only occur when enough evidence and information can be gathered to put pressure on services to
acknowledge necessary change.
SO - get your experiences and views (good and bad) submitted to LPCF and help us to improve services for parents
of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
To provide your thoughts - please complete a "YOUR SAY" by following the link.
Excellence Awards
There are many issues and much negativity in what parents experience with services and the Forum is constantly
seeking to capture this through the range of methods listed.
HOWEVER !
There is good news and positive experiences out there along with some excellent organisations, staff, volunteers
and professionals.
Make a nomination about how you as a parent have experienced excellent or exceptional service and we will ensure
that this also gets relayed to service providers.
(You can also access our Awards Hall of Fame)
Praising can also bring about change as others rise to meet the standards or learn from the practices of others.
Also the winners announced every six months get certificates and every nomination is added to our Excellence Hall
of Fame winners listing.
Provide feedback on your use of Max Cards
Max Cards are provided to parent carers for free for engagement in a number of ways with LPCF as described in the
Information section > Max Cards.
As explained in the section the purchase of cards and monitoring does come at a cost and LPCF seek grants from
funders to operate the scheme.
As with anything in life the grant providers want value for their money and hence LPCF have to provide feedback
from parents to keep money flowing in - hence the need for your feedback on how you have used your card.
By feeding back you are actually doing two things -
Making sure that the feedback you provide is recorded so that if you seek a new card on expiry then you have
met the condition that all cards after the first one MUST have provided feedback on the previous card use etc.
Additionally you are also helping to build a repository of feedback for other parents to view and check out
or perhaps gain some ideas of places to visit. This will be available from this section or our Max Card page
as a link as well as at the bottom.
You may wish to read feedback from others before completing your own write up.
To provide feedback use our simple form and rating system.
Facebook
Our Facebook Parents Only page is a great tool for parents to link up and share thoughts and challenges
with each other and the forum.
Parents may not know this but we check every comment every three months for inclusion in our quarterly Parents
Voice report. Copies of Parents Voice reports and all our other reports and public documents can be found in our
library by following the link.
REMEMBER - our Facebook Page is only available to registered Parent Carers. Check us out - follow
the link
Consultations / Surveys
As well as our own Surveys and occasional consultations we publicise those of others related to SEND to encourage
parents to make their voices heard.
To see what consultations and surveys are currently available to parents please follow the link
If you don't make your views know - Nothing changes !!!
Parents Said and Professionals Replied
For a while now LPCF have been pressing Professionals to respond directly to key issues and subjects raied by
Parents.
A number have done so in past years randomly but LPCF are seeking to create more regular / structured feedback
loop from Professionals about Parents SEND related matters.
To track feedback LPCF have create a page in our Information section called "Feedback from Professionals"
To see what responses have been received please use
and select the "Feedback from Professionals" page.
Wouldn't you like to know how they answer some of your key points / issues !!!
Coffee
Mornings / Events
Our Coffee Mornings (sometimes afternoons or evenings) are an excellent way for parents to meet with other
parents, share experiences and provide feedback about what is going on in their lives.
Often parents
think they are alone in having a view or an issue but sharing with others often will help parents to see that they
are not alone.
The Forum's Big Coffee Morning, held annually is the best opportunity for lots of parents to gather and discuss
common themes as well as meet some very influential professionals from the key services e.g. NHS, LCC and Social
Care.
Phone Calls / Letters
/ Emails
If all else fails and you are not really into attending meetings or don't get on with computers etc. - we are
always open to a chat on the phone..
Letters and Emails are always most welcome.
JUST MAKE SURE YOU CONTACT US IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY OR AN EXPERIENCE TO SHARE.
