Parental Access

For a while now LPCF have been involved with Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) and partners in developing access to core induction skills and knowledge modules of learning for Special School and Mainstream staff.
This was through our involvement alongside partners in the 5 year Special School strategy.

During the process LPCF suggested that the training provided should not be restricted to staff but should also be made available to parents as part of the E-Learning process.
LCC have had the foresight, in the spirit of co-production, to accept this and approve parents access to complete the seven modules available:-

New teaching block for Louth special school

New-and-improved facilities at St Bernard’s School in Louth have been officially opened.
The £8.7m project saw the creation of a new teaching block as well as an extension and refurbishment of the existing building, enabling the school to meet all special educational needs.

The work included the creation of improved teaching facilities, dedicated hygiene suites, kitchen, dining space, laundry area and meeting room. Along with renovated medical and professional areas, increased office and break out spaces, a new library and enhanced parking were added.

A new £6.8m teaching block at The Eresby School in Spilsby has been officially opened.

The new block incorporates additional classrooms, a hall for rebound therapy, hygiene suite facilities, a dedicated IT suite and science and technology space suitable for all needs. There are also calm rooms, physio space and improved staff facilities.

In addition, improvements have been made to the outside areas, including the creation of sensory and horticultural zones and a cycle track, as well as an extension to the car park and designated drop-off area.

New home provides improved support for children and young people with disabilities

Strut House, an 'outstanding' short breaks home for children and young people who have severe and profound disabilities, has officially opened its new site.

The home has recently been moved to a former residential building on the site of St Francis Special School in Lincoln. The building has been fully refurbished to provide more modern and spacious facilities that will meet the diverse needs of the young people staying there.

The home will provide overnight short breaks in a safe, nurturing and caring environment for up to five children and young people aged 5-18 years each night.

Alongside the bedrooms, some of which have specialist beds, there are spacious lounge and activity areas, designed to accommodate large wheelchairs and equipment. There are also outdoor areas, meaning the children can enjoy activities both inside and out.

New Lincoln primary school for special needs pupils

The new £13m St Christopher’s Primary School in Lincoln has been officially opened.

The new 130-place special school includes 15 classrooms alongside therapy spaces such as sensory and soft play. In addition, there is a large hall, a hydrotherapy pool and physiotherapy and medical rooms.

The new school complements St Christopher’s current Hykeham Road site, which will now be home to its secondary-aged pupils only. These current buildings are also being extensively redeveloped and remodelled as part of the improvement project.More details here
