Amy is the Head of Service for the Children and Young People Mental Health Services.
The Services range from school based emotional wellbeing services (Healthy Minds Lincolnshire) for young people up to 19 years old (25 years if SEND or Leaving Care ) to more specialist mental health services (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services – CAMHS).

How do young people access CAMHS support when their struggles are unhelpfully blamed on their additional needs? As if they cannot have additional needs AND mental health difficulties requiring specific mental health support?

Why is it so hard to get your child seen by mental health services? Why does it have to get so bad that you have to hear your child doesn’t want to be here before someone will listen. Here for you line I waited 1.57mins. School are dismissive. Referral to CAMHS twice rejected. My child is struggling and no one will listen but me

Is the parent carer peer support using generic support strategies or do they also have alternatives that are more suitable for parent carers that also have additional needs themselves? i.e., autistic, adhd, etc?

Is support only open to parents of children suffering with mental illness? Is there any support like this available for parents of children with learning difficulties but not mental health illness?

What happens when you have done every self-care thing possible or we have done everything possible with our child? I do meditation, yoga, worry boxes, breathing technics, I literally have a library or self-help, anxiety, building a better mental health books to assist with my daughter’s mental health…but still professionals decline the referral?

My son has been diagnosed with dyslexia and recently autism. He cannot explain how feelings feel, he has anxiety, low self-esteem and exhaustion with school. My question is, I am unsure how to help him to improve his mental health?
