SEND Workforce Development - E-Learning - Parental Access
Background
For a while now LPCF have been involved with Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) and partners in developing
access to core induction skills and knowledge modules of
learning for Special School and Mainstream staff.
During the process LPCF suggested that the training provided should not be restricted to staff but should also be
made available to parents as part of the E-Learning process.
LCC have had the foresight, in the spirit of co-production, to accept this and approve parents access to complete
the seven modules available.

How does a parent benefit from the training?
In allowing parents to participate it helps with that goal of helping parents become their own professionals,
through enhanced skills and knowledge. As one parent recently advocated at a LPCF Coffee Event (paraphrasing)
"If you take up all the training available it brings two major benefits :-
1. When you have tried things and speak the language used with a good knowledge - Professionals
really do listen.
2. Your child will only see a Paediatrician or Occupational Therapist (OT) etc. for a very short time - You are
there as a parent 24/7 for life"
LPCF might add that knowing the training Professionals can undertake should also make parents aware of what/how
they should be delivering to families.
Since places are limited LCC have put a minor condition in place, which is that only parents registered with LPCF
may apply and applications will go through LPCF to ensure that applications are managed and coordinated.
So how do you get started?
How do I get started?
Actually it is easy - From 30th October 23
- Register with LPCF (Free) and add your expression of interest in the additional notes section.
- If already registered, please Email the admin@lincspcf.org.uk address indicating your interest and
commitment to the training with the
Virtual College Enable programme.
Once LPCF have registered your interest with Virtual College you will be provided (via email) access arrangments
to the E-Learning
portal where you will create a password to confirm your account and shortly after your modules will be added to
your learning package. After that you just get started. It is interesting that a number of parents registered well
before the programme even launched.
LPCF are so pleased that LCC and Partners have opened this up to parents who wish to learn and do their best for
their children.
